Richard D. Winters Easy Company, 506 PIR 101st Airborne Division "Dedicated to all those who led the way on D-Day"
This is the second time to visit Normandy and the D-Day sites. Coming to this statue is especially relevant because of who and what Richard Winters represented and how he was a true citizen soldier. What is very important to acknowledge is the town of Sainte Marie Du Mont placed this monument, and maintains it, as a tribute to Mr. Winters and his fellow soldiers and what they did in on June 6, 1944.
The statue is ugly and a disgrace to the man it memorizes. who sculpted that thing?
Nice memorial to an honorable man. Lovely view from hilltop towards Utah beach. RIP Mr Winters.
First learned about him watching 'Band Of Brothers' even if you haven't done anything other research about him it's a great place to stop and learn a bit more about the now legend.
