Capitol Building - Review

Set over 40 acres and overlooking the majestic Salt Lake City, the Capitol building is both regal and an architecturally beautiful. Sculpted lawns and manicured bushes flank the building, and the view of the surroundings is simply jaw dropping. Walking on the grounds instils a feeling of awe and patriotism as you pass the Vietnam memorial and the Mormon monument that have been erected in the memory of brave soldiers.

The Capitol building itself was built in 1916 using granite and other indigenous stones found in the nearby canyons. The interiors are tastefully done, with marble columns and a grand 165-feet rotunda. Guided tours are available for visitors or you can even choose to explore this stately building by yourself. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Salt Lake City Itinerary 3 Days.

  • I have never seen a state capital building as lovely, majestic, and well done as Utah's capital building. A must visit for anyone's first time in Salt Lake! Spectacular views off the steps.

  • Guide ranlate but she made up for it in her overall experienceshe gave us!she was super kind and knowledgeable. Patient as well with my 2yr old and I couldn't use the stairs with my stroller so she'd wait until I got up using the elevator, very tiny btw. In awe of the detail and amount of craftsmanship that went into this building. Over 100 years old and made of marble! A lot of history here as well as beauty. Anyone traveling this is a must see as well aspiring artist this is a worthwhile stop!

  • This is a beautiful place to visit! Alot of history here to read about.

  • Beautiful place to visit and the views of the skyline are a must see.

  • Great tourist spot. The architecture is worth seeing. There are 4 floors and the visitors center is on the 1st which you may have to walk down to depending on where you enter. They have tours every hour on the hour. Otherwise you can grab a pamphlet for a self guided tour. It's great to walk through and you'll learn some history of Utah.
