Winter (November - February) – The temperature falls significantly as the winter arrives in Salzburg, with the average temperature fluctuating between -4 and 4 degrees. The hotels are very cheap at this time of the year and some attractions are completely shut. Salzburg sees its first snowfall during the month of November which opens up ski resorts for winter sports enthusiasts.
Spring (March - April) – The early springs are cold and the mercury does not rise until April with temperatures fluctuating between 1 to 14 degrees Celsius. There is also possibility of high rainfall during the beginning month of spring. The ski resorts shut down during this time of the month, the prices start to rise and local attractions open up and start preparing for the peak season.
The best time to visit Salzburg is from September to October when summer crowds left and one can enjoy the beautiful city in comfortable temperatures. Spring time sees fewer crowds but the weather is still cold to enjoy the outdoors, making autumn the best time to visit Salzburg.
