After walking around the city of Salzburg, treat yourself to some lighthearted fun at one of the most popular diner shows in the city, the Sound of Salzburg Dinner Show! It’s only natural that the city would have different tours showcasing this epic movie and this dinner show is definitely one of the best available. Structured around the movie ‘Sound of Music’, the dinner show is a collection of singers who perform musical numbers from the film as the diner is treated to a delicious meal. The production is directed by Franz Langer.

Maria Von Trapp was a real woman, after whom the movie was modeled. She was a member of a convent in the city and taught the Von Trapp children. This show is based on the film and the musical numbers that made it famous. The music also includes a ‘Trapp Family Folk Music Revival’ and the evening ends with a selection of tunes from celebrated operattas with live piano accompanying the performers. All entertainment will be in English. These singers have performed in over 15 countries around the world as musical ambassadors for their country.

Centrally located with easy bus access, the venue is air conditioned and very comfortable. There is an adjacent dining area, with decorated tables, which will soon hold sumptuous meals. The menu consists of tasty treats, most items mentioned in the song ‘My Favourite Things’! Diners will be treated to schnitzel with noodles, crisp apple strudel, ham tartlets on a bed of salad, escalope of turkey in creamy sauce with home-made noodles or grilled pork cutlets with potatoes. Dessert is apple strudel with whipped cream! Worry not, vegetarians; meat-free courses are available upon request.

Visitors will first see a historical video of Maria Von Trapp, after which the artistes will perform a stage show dressed in traditional costume. The show is interactive, and everyone is welcome to sing and dance along with the performers. Dinner will be served as the night progresses. You can also enjoy a meal at the famous and authentic restaurant Stieglkeller.
