This underappreciated 1699 church has some significant history. For one, no one definitely knows who built it, though the Baroque design and external styling strongly suggest it was the work of Fischer von Erlach. The site on which the church is built was the location of a tragedy back in 16th of July 1669, when a landslide killed 220 people. After the original church and hospital were destroyed, the Prince Archbishop Johann Ernst Thun directed the Ursuline nuns here to start a school for grils here. See the representations of Saints Markus, Ursula and Augustinus on the facade, the mid-18th century frescoes, and the huge organ built by the Mauracher family. Today, it is the main church for the city’s Ukrainians.
