About Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, San Antonio
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. is an American chain of combined restaurant and gift stores with a Southern country theme. The company was founded by Dan Evins in 1969; its first store was in Lebanon, Tennessee, which remains the company headquarters. The chain's stores were at first positioned near Interstate highway exits in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States, but it has expanded across the country during the 1990s and 2000s. As of September 18, 2012, the chain operates 639 stores in 43 states. Cracker Barrel's menu is based on traditional Southern cuisine, with appearance and decor designed to resemble an old-fashioned general store. Each restaurant features a front porch lined with wooden rocking chairs, a stone fireplace, and decorative artifacts from the local area. Cracker Barrel is known for its partnerships with country music performers. It has received attention for its charitable activities, such as its assistance of victims of Hurricane Katrina and injured war veterans. Employees there wear a choice of either white, yellow, blue or pink shirts. During the 1990s, the company was the subject of controversy for its official stance against gay and lesbian employees and for discriminatory practices against African-American customers and female employees. In 2004, a U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) investigation found that Cracker Barrel discriminated against minority customers; patrons complained of racially segregated seating and service quality. In an agreement with the USDOJ, Cracker Barrel implemented non-discrimination policies and pledged to focus on improving minority representation and civic involvement, particularly in the black community. Company shareholders added sexual orientation to the company's non-discrimination policy in 2002.Wikipedia

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, San Antonio Reviews - Write a Review
Food was good but was cold by the time I was able to get my waitress to bring me a clean fork. First one was coated in egg yolk & the second had a huge section of dirty napkin dried onto it. Evidently it stayed on it through the wash, rinse, & dry cycles plus had no one see it as they packaged the utensils. Wasn't given any napkins to begin with & since I couldn't get my waitress's attention I asked the hostess for some as she walked by. Told me she'd get my waitress to bring them but I told her I couldn't wait that long. There was trash on the floor & halfway through the meal started hearing two younger "gentleman" get louder & louder laughing & joking with the language getting worse & worse. When I heard the f-bomb come out at a volume loud enough to be heard across the restaurant I stood up to tell them to watch it as there were several families with young children in the room. When I turn to go to them I see it's a waiter & as I later learn his buddy that was in the restaurant on his day off just to shoot the bull. As I was sitting there finishing up my meal the waiter walked by with a grin on his face, heading back to his compadre. That was it. I asked for the manager who thankfully addressed all the above problems in a professional & quick manner. Hoping all of it was just a fluke as they're normally really good both in taste & in cleanliness.
The waitress Tanya gave wonderful service. She kept our coffee hot and fresh. Asked if we needed anything before we needed anything. Gave service with a smile. I don't know the lady but, next time I go, I will want her as my waitress.. Thank Ms Tanya for me.
My father, brother, and I have eaten here three times over the last month. Breakfast is good, but not spectacular for me. I prefer large omelettes and prices a dollar or two less per plate. Ive eaten at better bfast places in area for less money. The service was excellent and the ambience was busy but not loud or disruptive. The last two visits were for the 5.99 lunch deal. Thursday is turkey day w stuffing n a side-good deal at an excellent price with good service. Not amazing but good. Lunch is busy so service isn't as fast as other places, but it's busy because so many enjoy eating here. Just had the baked chicken lunch for 5.99 on Mondays. The baked chicken was quite small and mostly bone than chicken, covered in gravy. Food was not hot, so I strongly discourage the Monday 5.99 deal. Service was good.
I was enjoying my dinner when I noticed one of the bus boy coughing, while cleaning the tables. Ugh #OSHA violation! People with active colds should not be working directly with customers and handling dishes! I just need to stay out of restaurant all together😯
Wish I could have left no stars, it's a shame because we usually eat here and have no problems. Our server was Demaryo was rude and seemed like he didn't want to be there. My husband wanted the beef tips that came with rice. Demaryo said they were out of rice. My husband ordered a different meal with fries. Demaryo said they were out of fries........How are you out of all this on a Saturday at 2pm?? We decided to go somewhere else.
