Natural Bridge Caverns - Review
This cavern has a bit of a man-nature love story to it. When student Orion Knox Jr. found this cavern, he approached the landowner, Mrs. Clara Wuest with the idea of developing it. The various bodies they contacted for the purpose agreed with the intent, but admitted they did not have the funds for such an endeavor. Undaunted, Orion and Clara took it upon themselves to develop this site, along with help from Clara’s new hubby, patrolman Harvey Heidemann and a man named Jack Burch. Since that time, this place has been managed by that very family. Excavations have revealed some prehistoric animal and human bones and artefacts – including skull parts from an extinct black bear.
Currently the tours in the caves go about 180 feet underground into an atmosphere that maintains precise cool temperatures and humidity all year around. You can choose from various tours – its going to be fantastic any which way. Playing around with the zip glides or being plunged into moments of absolute darkness – the caves will take you completely out of your comfort zone, but you’ll be safe.

Natural Bridge Caverns, San Antonio Reviews
This place is naturally beautiful. the experience was educational, beautiful and importantly a good exercise. Yes, I said exercise because you have to do good amount of walking in a highly humid environment underground in a tour which is about 45 mins to 1 hour. Carry water bottle with you (big one). Parking is free. they have good area outside as well (no tickets required for just sitting outside). Outside the Caverns there is good couple of activities to choose from. There are laws (seriously) that protect the Caverns - so, don't touch anything in the caves until told. Don't forget to taste the natural water.
Great place to see the caverns. Very unique in the nation especially this one in San Antonio. Our guide was amazing in explaining and guiding us through the tour to see all the structure and experience the caves. It was a nice walk and a good exercise would go back again. It was $31 when you buy online and do both. Which was very well worth it!
We did our first tour with Morgan who was absolutely amazing. She was very knowledgeable, and personable. The cavern was warm and lit dimly. My 10 year old enjoyed taking pics and learning more about Texas. Just remember to eat n use the restroom before you go down there.
I went to this place as a kid over 30 years ago and it still does not disappoint. Out of the 4 caves we have toured in Texas so far, this one has the best formations inside. Very easy to traverse paths throughout the cave make for a family friendly tour. We just recently took both of our sons age 3 and 11 , both of them loved it. The rope course and zip lines were fun as well. Overall the family had an awesome day here.
Great fun for the little ones and adults as well. The zip line is a must. The group in front of us was a 3 generation party. Daughter, mother and Grandmother who was 63 (her birthday). She hit that zip line like a boss! Staff is super helpful and friendly. Most of all, the caverns are a once in a lifetime moment! A must for tourists. It was great!
