Natural Bridge Caverns - Review

This cavern has a bit of a man-nature love story to it. When student Orion Knox Jr. found this cavern, he approached the landowner, Mrs. Clara Wuest with the idea of developing it. The various bodies they contacted for the purpose agreed with the intent, but admitted they did not have the funds for such an endeavor. Undaunted, Orion and Clara took it upon themselves to develop this site, along with help from Clara’s new hubby, patrolman Harvey Heidemann and a man named Jack Burch. Since that time, this place has been managed by that very family. Excavations have revealed some prehistoric animal and human bones and artefacts – including skull parts from an extinct black bear.

Currently the tours in the caves go about 180 feet underground into an atmosphere that maintains precise cool temperatures and humidity all year around. You can choose from various tours – its going to be fantastic any which way. Playing around with the zip glides or being plunged into moments of absolute darkness – the caves will take you completely out of your comfort zone, but you’ll be safe.

  • Amazing experience. The caves are huge. It’s as if you are inside some ancient building or something due to the formations. We went with 2 kids (one of them

  • I went with my family on combo tour (discover and Hidden passage tour). Its starts with 1st Hidden passage tour n then discover. There will be break of 20min in between. The tour and guides are young and knowledgeable. They are helpful too. The Hidden passage tour has stairs and need good physical strength . But the structure is delicate and you can see it from close. The tour guide will let you have moment of darkness and tell you details on this millions of year of formation. Discover tour on the other hand has huge natural towers made from limestone and this path is not stairs but paved, so you wont feel hectic or tired. Both the tours are not for Pets and physically challenging people :( .

  • Great place for a day trip. My girlfriend and I went here and took two tours. Price wasn't too bad considering what you get. The tour guides were fun and very knowledgeable. Was warm inside the caverns and very moist. The views inside are amazing, more than that actually. Highly highly reccomend for people who haven't had this experience before. Hope to make it back sometime for the more extreme private tours.

  • This is hands-down one of the most beautiful and amazing geological structures I’ve seen on this planet. Going to do the private extended tour and it takes you deeper into the caves than most tourist go. Can’t wait for that trip/tour. I’ve gone to this place three times now in my lifetime. And it gets better and better each time. The staff is amazing and the amount of activities and educational material that they have there is bar none

  • Nice tour to the naturally built caverns. It becomes little slippery during rains so be mindful. You can take light weight push chair inside however you will need to collapse it at stairs, narrow paths etc. Take a small water bottle with you to fight the humidity inside caverns. The formations are lovely and worth your extra efforts.
