  • Love the San Antonio zoo! So many animals, and it's clear they do a fantastic job of taking care of them all! Be prepare to walk! It's spread out to accommodate all of the habitats for the animals to make it more like their natural habitats instead of cages. The Halloween and Christmas events are fantastic and fun for the whole family!

  • I never know about zoos...are the animals rescued? Are they happy? Thriving? Or just surviving? The kids love to see the animals, but we feel guilty over them being in cages for our "viewing pleasure." If they were rescued and rehabilitated it wouldn't feel so awful. Snacks are STUPID overpriced! $5 for a small box of popcorn. But had to soothe the kids till we could find our way out! 😳 Decision was made. Price was paid.

  • Larger than it looks. Train ride is fun for the kids. You can spend many hours here and they have a satisfying selection and variety of animals. Zoo membership is pretty inexpensive as well. Can't go wrong with a visit especially during holiday times.

  • I was told it is one of finest Zoos in USA. Well I will debate on that. Firstly the animal collection is decent but not great. They cover almost all sections of animals like birds, cats, pachyderms, apes etc., I believe the areas provided for animals are smaller with respect to their sizes. Apes have the smallest cages I have seen. They have impressive bird collection. They serve food at certain points of the zoo. Staff are courteous and professional. Visit this place in the early hours where sun is not high point to see some animal activity. Beware if you are visiting on weekend there gonna be a tussle for parking.

  • We went for Halloween time, it was full and very well decorated. A lot of activities around, a lot of ways to enjoy and have fun. Of course, super kids friendly. We love it! We just hope the elephant can have a partner soon :)
