Donut Bar, San Diego Reviews - Write a Review

  • The wait was with it. These donuts were fantastic and reasonably priced for the size and quality. There is a huge variety including vegan versions. The shop is cute and the staff are friendly. Chef Santiago even commented on my Instagram pic thanking me for visiting, which was a very charming touch. You can get a variety of beverages here too. Plus, they offer a special free donut for kids, which is a super cool thing for them to do. My favorite of the four I purchased was the Harry Potter Butter Beer donut. Delicious!

  • I remember the first time I went here, it was just a small shop with a long line. Now that it expanded, no wait time. As always have the most amazing donuts with the freshest of ingredients. A bit pricey, but worth it. Be sure to make this a top place if you come down to San Diego. You won't be disappointed!!!

  • After having driven across the country from NH to SoCal, I ate my fair share of donuts along the way (whether in central PA, WV, TN (Nashville and Memphis), AR, etc. (you get the point)). At the request of some new friends in San Diego, I was told to visit the Donut Bar. Let me say, these donuts are creative and great! If you plan on going, go on an empty stomach - most of their donuts are HUGE (making the price well worth it). I had two while there and didn't eat the rest of the day. Well worth the trip whether you're visiting or if you're a local -- which, in that case, go whenever you can.

  • The Donut Bar - at 631 B Street - was simply awesome; an excellent bakery that is renowned for their uniquely flavoured donuts ( Reviews that praise this spot have appeared in the San Diego Magazine and on a number of other local and nationwide network media organizations; and a couple of " talk shows" too! Their confections come in a number of unheard of flavours, with very inventive nicknames. The French Toast Donut, the big pepper tart donut, the pumpkin pie donut, blood orange, maple bacon, strawberry split donuts and myriad other remarkable pastries. The layout of the Donut Bar - both the interior and the exterior - was guaint : The striking pink and black colours were very bright, sharp and inviting. I liked the menu that was cleverly placed on an old fashioned chalkboard outside of the restaurant; and although the inside seating was limited, the Donut Bar was basically a "cash and carry" take out store. I ordered a strawberry creme cheese donut and it was yummy; the prices ranged somewhere between $1 and $5 per donut, which was reasonable in regards to what I was ordering. The long lines of customers who were waiting to place their orders, were a sheer testimonial concerning Donut Bar's popularity. ( They are only open from the early morning hours to noon, and they are thus an excellent place for breakfast or a noontime snack.).The Donut Bar - in the terms of a cliche used by very young people (especially"skaters and surfers.") - was "DA BOMB!"

  • Best donut shop we have been to by far. Such a variety of unique flavors to choose from. We had the French toast donut and it was amazing! They all looked so good, we wanted to try one of everything. Staff here is very awesome and they take the time to explain their selection of donuts. Be prepared to wait in line for a bit, but it's very well worth the wait.
