There are two periods during the year that this garden suddenly becomes the most desired wedding venue in San Diego. These are April and May and March through December. During this time, large portions of the garden's 2,400 rose bushes in 180 varieties bloom, and the effect is like something out of a Disney movie. If the diversity wasn't already incredible, every year they introduce new varieties of roses to raise awareness of them in the commercial markets.

  • The rose garden is beautifully designed and they have so many colorful amazing varieties of roses. The garden is a living memoir to the women of World War I who went to work while the men fought overseas (I.e., the 'Rosie the Riveter' rose garden). The garden itself is overlooking scenic views of San Diego's distant brown mountains and is pleasant even in December. It's a medium-sized garden and leads straight into the nice cactus life of the rest of Balboa Park. Definitely worth the visit :)

  • Beautiful garden and access is free. We can see several varieties of roses. The roses were not great because their season is almost over. You have to go back every season to see the changes and especially to see the roses at their best.

  • Wherever you go in Balboa Park there's something to do or see. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody looking for a beautiful place to hang out or just to do something fun. 5 stars earned

  • Unique rose varieties can be seen here. Really blossoms and attracts lot of visitors during spring time.

  • A must see. Beautiful rose gardens and walking trails along Park Ave, across the street from the science and natural history museum. The fragrance of the various roses fill the air. There are benches and seating areas to rest, read, and/or just relax. The museums are just across the street making the gardens a wonderful way to start one's day in the heart of San Diego.
