Though technically this is part of the the Mission Bay aquatic park, this beach faces the Pacific Ocean rather than the bay. The concrete road is about 3.5 miles long, stretching between North Pacific Beach to South Mission Beach. It is a pedestrian path, though cycles are allowed. There are a lot of shops and eateries alongside the boardwalk. Highlights include:
- Ventura Place
- Belmont Park, with the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster.
- Fishign at South Mission Beach Park.
The beach is commonly used by families. There are volleyball courts, surfers, and scuba divers. It can get really crowded on the weekends.

Nice long boardwalk where you can listen to the waves. It gets crowded on weekends so be prepared for that. This is a calmer boardwalk because there are fewer shops lining it. There were surfers and body boarders in the ocean, they were fun to watch too. Enjoy
I like to walk with my mom the whole length of the boardwalk and really enjoy it. I like to watch people riding their bikes or skateboards. I like to see other walkers like me. It is a great experience. What I don't like and that is the reason of minus one star is all the drunks laying there on the floor in different areas of the boardwalk. To me it ruins the experience. Another negative is the lack of cleanliness in some areas. People need to take care of this Gem and cleanup after their pets !
We love walking here.Sunshine, Salty Ocean Air, and Cool Water to put your feet in... Lots of places to get a snack or drink...can't ask for much more
Long stretch of boardwalk. Good for a run with nice view of the long sandy beach. Very crowded during the day though and if crowds is not your thing during your run, do it after sun-down but the trade off is you can't see the beach.
A must see in San Diego. Gets busy in mid days. Is Better to roller blade or bike on bay side for less stress and traffic.
