The New Children's Museum was established to animate creative ability, inventiveness and rational thinking in kids and families through imaginative and captivating encounters. All the exhibits have been specially designed for this purpose.
The children are encouraged to do and see how things work on their own. The museum is based on arts. The idea is to make people do creative things and actually think innovatively to create something new. Recycling is another very important aspect. Using waste to create something entirely different is a very interesting exhibit and a wonderful activity to do with your kids. Similarly, There are several activities that involve everyday things like food and furniture that have been put in such an environment that they inspire creative thinking in the youngsters.

This is one of the top three memberships for parents and kids in San Diego. It's a fun and educational last minute day out for us. Just a hint if you have a membership you can also invite some of your children's friends as long as you don't have more than three kids for free. We cycle through my sons friends every few visits and everyone always has a good time.
It is nice and has some really stunning parts that will catch your eye. But for a child fresh out of the toddler years there really isn't a lot to do. Especially if the place is busy and you have to wait for your child to get a turn at something. The mattress room only holds so many kids without it being dangerous, the sand room is pretty much every mother's nightmare and is also pretty small. I did like the indoor aquarium but the experience was over pretty quickly. Overall it's a nice place with some fun activities and my daughter enjoyed her time there. But at 6 years old she didn't have a lot to do and was bored after an hour. Normally I'd like to spend longer at a place like this.
Kids free during the month of October. So many hands on activties for kids to do. A whole day can be spent here! They also have a gift shop and cafe. Great for kids of all ages. My kids especially loved exploring. the Wonder Sound Room!
It was fun and less expensive than I thought. I wish there was more interactive attractions, more toys in the sandpit, and that oversized strollers weren't allowed, because they take up so much space. The food was ok, but, not for the price. We will go back I'm sure. Hopefully the truck attraction will be open, since it was closed for the rain.
Love this place. I strongly recommend getting a Membership. Great for kids from 1 yr old to maybe 10. We go several times a week with our 18 month old Brodi, and have been enjoying the museum since he could walk.
