Old Globe TheatreCurrently Closed
The Old Globe theatre which is built around the same architectural structure as the Globe theatre in London, is an important cultural landmark in San diego.
This beautiful theatre is an active center for the arts. The open, simple and elegant structure helps make the theatre environment very inviting and lively. With over 15 annual productions in their summer season, it makes a lot of sense to actually watch a play here in order to take in this wonderful atmosphere. There are three smaller venues within the complex where the plays are held.
Located between the San Diego Museum of Art and San Diego Museum of Man, the place is sure to be a very interesting site to at least pass by from.

Great shows. Discounted tickets for students or anyone under 30 yrs of age. Alcoholic beverages available for purchase at the pub and allowed into the theatre. Valet parking available but go early for free parking. Great for date nights.
We saw "Looking for Christmas", a first play by Clint Black. A 90 minute musical drama about realities in our current world. Sad at times and uplifting at others. Performance well staged and cast. Loved it.
My comment today is about the show playing at the Globe called "The Heart of Rock and Roll." This is a musical inspired by the music of Huey Lewis. It plays through the end of October and it's a must see. Huey's music over the years provides the narrative of this piece. The crowd loved every minute of it. The voices and delivery of the songs are amazing. The entire company is what I would expect to see on Broadway and I hope this talented bunch get to take it there. Go see this before you can't get tickets!
Three theaters, friendly staff, polite volunteer Usher's. Good line of sight from seat to stage and play selection. Located in Balboa Park, donations keep the Old Globe Theatre production one of the best venue's in San Diego.
Great facility. Clean, loved The Grinch outside peeking over the rooftop. Saw The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Very well done! Fell in love with little tiny Cindy Lou Who!!!
