    Just south of La Jolla Shores Park, this children's playground is wide open, brightly grassy and palm tree lined. A line of shrubs separates the park from the boardwalk, making keeping watch over the kids easier. This is one of the few shoreline parks in the city almost directly on the beach rather than on a bluff top. Nice place for the sunset.
  6. Balboa Park Miniature Railroad

    There are fewer than 50 of this miniature children's train model. Its three minute ride courses through a half mile of Balboa Park. And while that is usually exciting enough for kids, there's just a little bit more love for the carousel. The animals of the carousel were almost all carved in Europe. The ride lasts five minutes, and the music is military band style.
