Though technically part of North Pacific Beach, it's worth mentioning this portion of the beach separately for the special role it plays in the local surfing community (also, the North Pacific Beach is really long). To get to the beach, walk down the gentle inclune of Tourmaline Canyon. Showers and restrooms are available. There is a monument here known as Tourmaline Memorial, which honors celebrity surfers. Swimming is discouraged at this beach, but surfing is not. There are also kiteboarders and windsurfers.
