About Windansea Beach, San Diego

This is not a family beach. Smooth sandstone slopes down into wildly churning waters broken by reefs and rocks. Swimmers and surfers in the water should be careful not to injure themselves. In winter the surf can be up to eight feet high. Still, it is a romantic spot. It is common to find newly married couples collecting shots for their wedding album at sunset. There is a small shack for shade that you'll never guess is a historical landmark. Bring your own food. There is a rather secluded portion of the beach known as Mushroom beach, which has tidal pools.

  • One of my favorite beaches south of the north county beaches, still in "San Diego" area. Lots of room to walk or job on the beach, can surf, snorkel. This beach has it all. Gets busy for sure, but hasn't been as bad as La Jolla gets. Definitely worth checking out! Parking is along community streets. Will most likely have a walk to get here, but the homes are all sweet, so fun to check them out along the way. Actually, now that I think of it, 1 star, its terrible here!!

  • No public parking lots, a single porta potty, makes this a beautiful, quiet, uncrowded beach. Watch out for strong rip currents.

  • Nice place for walk around and photography. This place has some beautiful rock formation if you climb down.

  • Cool rocky beach but the waves and rip tide are scary.

  • Limited parking and strong local showing.
