Burma Superstar Restaurant Reviews & Ratings
Food shouldn't taste this good, but my word BS delivers... The coconut rice has to be laced with crack / cocaine because it's truly addicting. I NEVER reorder a dish at a restaurant in the same sitting, but as a family of 4, we ordered 3 servings of this starchy goodness. Service was smashing and you know a place is doing it right when 3 minutes after they open, there's a wait list. But it's worth the wait. The flavor profile of the dishes was, as others have mentioned, like a party in your mouth. And treat yourself to the Soju spiked with fresh lemon and ginger... it's super refreshing and tasty. Parking is abhorrent, but welcome to San Francisco.
It's always delicious food. The wait times can be bonkers, and ever since Lanesplitters closed there is not a good local place to hang out and get a drink to wait. The cocktails at Burma are really fun and interesting, and it is easy to get something different off the menu every time and still be surprised.
There was virtually no wait around noon, with a roughly 20 minute wait at 12:45 (on a Sunday). Tea salad was fantastic, highly recommend. The flat noodle dish was okay, I think we probably should have ordered it spicy because the flavor was muted. Same with the curry, it was tasty just not full of spice like I expected. Service was fantastic, but I wasn't blown away by anything except the tea salad which was absolutely exceptional. 4 stars because the prices are a bit high and the main courses could have been a bit more flavourful. Definitely worth a try!
I enjoyed my meal here. It is definitely a bit pricey, but super delicious. Like every other reviewer here, I would definitely recommend the tea leaf salad. One of the better Burmese spots in the city.
I had never tried Burmese cuisine before so I didn't know what to expect from this place. And I was blown away by the food of this place. It's a mix of Indian/Chinese/Thai of sorts, we had the Tea Leaf Salad, which is a salad made with fermented green tea leaves, and although it sounds a bit weird it was amazing, highly recommended. Next we had the lamb curry and the walnut shrimp. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the shrimp, although a little bit sweet, they were perfection in a plate.
