It’s a tiny street, unremarkable in every way but its murals. Vivid, dreamlike, vibrant, the street art is a treat for the eyes. The artists responsible for this wonder call themselves the Clarion Alley Mural Project, and there are more than 50 of them. Some of the mural have a definite Indonesian flavour. Indeed, the stated intent of some of the designs were to improve the understanding between Muslim and non-Muslim.
In the Bay Area, Clarion Alley is thought to be the heart of the mural scene. It was started in 1992 by six volunteers from the North Mission.
