Perched on the edge of the cliffs north of Ocean Beach, is Cliff House. It is a historical building that now serves as a restaurant and viewpoint. It is one of the most iconic restaurants in San Francisco and the best place to enjoy a “meal with a view”. The house has undergone 5 refurbishments over the years and in its new avatar is part of the Golden Gate National Recreational Area.

The building is now home to two restaurants, the Cliff House Bistro and the more formal Sutro’s. It also houses the Zinc Bar and Balcony Lounge. The Terrace Room serves a brunch buffet on Sundays. They host a live jazz performance on Friday nights, which is very popular. There is a gift shop on the premises and an independently owned room-sized Camera Obscura on the deck that overlooks the ocean and offers stunning views.

Renowned for providing some of the most astounding views of the surrounding, Cliff House is probably the best place in the entire San Francisco to enjoy an evening of fine dine and relax. Of course, the restaurant will have no Cliff House Tickets or Cliff House Ticket Prices for entrance. You will have to pay as per the servings you order. Ensure to do the reservations beforehand if you are visiting on Sunday. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following San Francisco itinerary 4 days.

  • First a thank you to the hostess who after seeing us with a sleeping infant and without a reservation..managed to find a table for us immediately. That kindness was greatly appreciated. The service was attentive and prompt. The views from the Bistro window seats are awesome. The food (crab cakes and clam chowder, swordfish sandwich) was very tasty. A bit expensive, but the views and the food make it worthwhile.

  • Hard to beat the views. Food can be on the fancy side so some of it may not be for the average palate. I find that I like some of what I have eaten there but some things definitely didn't agree with me. That's not to say that the cook did anything wrong, just that it's hard to know what to order when things are so exotic. Pretty awesome that the tomato soup had mini grilled cheese sandwiches though.

  • The views were breathtaking and the food was amazing! I brought my husband for his birthday dinner and we both enjoyed the place. The staff was so nice especially when I called to tell them we were going to be 15 minutes late but the lady said it was fine and they would hold the table for us. Their margaritas were fresh! So was the food. I definitely recommend the crab cakes and shrimp for starters, you have to try it. They were also nice enough to bring my husband a delicious birthday dessert for him. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff! I will be returning to this place for sure.

  • Wonderfully kitch and with views to die, for we loved our brunch-time experience despite not having a reservation. They also make a mean Bloody Mary, and the menu really does have something for everybody. The place is iconic, a bit of an institution and we absolutely loved it. If it were closer we’d use it every weekend! Friendly, accommodating staff and a very chilled vibe along with everything else is a winning combination!

  • Historic setting, great service and excellent food. It is like stepping back in time to the elegance of the early part of the last century. My personal favorite is the endless popovers which come with every meal. My mother worked in a similar setting as a young adult. Now I know why popovers were her breakfast treat for the family.
