Coit Tower - Review
The Coit Tower, otherwise called the Lillian Coit Memorial Tower, is a 64 m tall tower located on the Pioneer Park, Telegraph Hill. It was built in 1933 in honor of Lillie Hitchcock Coits, who died in 1929, an eccentric, trendsetter and a diehard San Francisco lover. She was wearing trousers long before it was acceptable for women to do so. She played a prominent role in developing San Fransico’s firefighting efforts. Upon her death, she bequeathed a third of her fortune to the city, to be used to beautify it. The tower is a highly popular attraction and as such there’s often a long traffic line for access. The rotunda at the top, from where one can catch beautiful views of the city, is free to visitors and covered in beautiful Murals. Coit Tower, San Francisco Reviews
This beautiful and iconic San Francisco landmark offers stunning views of the city by the bay. Best time to visit is a sunny morning. Park your car near Levi‘s Plaza below Telegraph Hill and hike up the Filbert Street staircases though all the gardens on the east slope of the hill. The lobby of the tower is decorated with beautifully historical murals. It is worth getting up on the tower to take in the amazing views.
All I can say, is this is a MUST SEE! The views, of the City are absolutely amazing. As a teenager, we'd go up at night. That's when I fell in love, with this tower. You can see, as far as the eye can see. The lights at night time, are beautiful. I've never been, during the day. I can't wait, to go back one day. Be sure, to bring a camera. You'll get amazing pictures up there.
