This little neighbourhood in North Beach is so close to Chinatown that often, people end up at one place from the other without even realising the transition. It’s famous mostly for its many Italian eateries - ristorantes, caffes, delicatessens – though there are also shops and boutiques worth checking out. The area is also famous historically as a favourite hangout of the Beat Generation of authors and poets. Night sees some of the city’s liveliest bars and nightclubs light up. Also check out the architecture of the buildings, which is quite distinct from the rest of the city.
