The oldest building in San Francisco and the sixth of the Californian chain of missions was founded in 1776. There is a graveyard here, the resting place of the people who first made this place their home. The building, over the course of it’s life has survived both earthqukes and fires. This mission is also famous for being the cemetery where the film Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock was filmed. It’s very well maintained, and the rustic pews and the ornate altars make it well worth a visit.
