The church caters primarily to the city’s French Catholic population. It was founded in 1856 when French Catholic immigrants rushed into area in the time of the Gold Rush. It was made a historical landmark in 1984. It’s architecture is at once classic but unusual, styled after the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière in Lyon, France. Thus, the influence is Byzantine, Romanesque and neo-Gothic. The church is an important centre of community for all of the city’s French residents, though it welcomes peoples of all faiths in its halls.

Notre Dame Des Victoires Church Reviews & Ratings
A very beautiful church inside and out. It is a small more intimate church. We went to the weekday 12:10 pm Mass, it was a very nice Mass and the priest gave a very good and interesting service. If I lived in SF near this church I would attend services here.
Great French church in union square. Beautiful stained glass windows and marble columns.
NDV is a small yet diverse Catholic Church with adjoining grade school. As a Marist congregation, NDV hosts visitors from around the world with an open and welcoming parish community rooted in faith, hope and love. The sermons by Father Juan are both inspirational and relevant to our lives today, helping its members and visitors consciously seek out their own paths to Christ. The music ministry is also lovely, with parishioners and visitors moved to applaud at the end of most masses. If your travel takes you to San Francisco, be sure to stop by NDV to enrich your journey in faith! I am happy to have made NDV a part of my life over the past 10 years that I’ve been a parishioner, and I hope to see you there!
The stain glass scenes are quite beautiful. Not a large chapel, and open to the public. The exterior architecture is a little geometric and unusual with Romanesque details.
Great Cathedral visit on Nob Hill
