San Francisco’s oldest saloon is also its oldest blues music venue. It was opened in 1861, and looks today much as it did in those days. Since the 1960s and 70s, popular local musicians have played at the Saloon nearly every day. There’s a dance floor too. The atmosphere is never less than lively, and is almost always rousing. The crowd is eclectic, the music is sublime, the drinks are cheap. Easily one of the best nightspots in the city.

The Saloon Reviews & Ratings
THE LIVE BLUES BANDS ARE SO VERY ENTERTAINING, PLEASANT TO THE EARS, & FUN!!! EASILY CROWDED With Fans Swaying To The Tunes. Get there early, or standing room only. Friendly Crowd! Great, Fast Service & Fine Liquor. No Food. Prices are O.K. Parking Debatable: (may be best to walk, bus, Bart, Trolley, etc ). A Place People Return To, Time-After-Time!
Live music well done on Friday afternoons, I am told other times also. Neighborhood vibe known to locals. Inexpensive refreshments; no cover charge; musicians depend upon the generosity of strangers. Best appreciated it if ear plugs worn given the room acoustics.
Buy booze, lots of booze, don’t forget to tip the live band at least 5 bucks an hour. Some of the bartenders are awesome, others should be put out to pasture. The best part of the Saloon IS the Band - they survive only on tips - so make sure to tip them 5 bucks an hour.
Live music , wonderful atmosphere , great place to visit...with affordable drinks. Highly recommended.
Awesome blues jams from a lovely ol' bar established in 1861! You definitely want to pass by!
