An SF classic. Everything about this place is epic, between the wood fired oven, raw oysters, standing only bar, and the most central spot in the city. I hope they never move, close, or change. I've been here a couple of times but most recently for brunch. Sorry bae, no bottomless mimosas. But just get the chicken. You can share it between 3-4 people but get extra appetizers. The burger is decent but not amazing. You can do better in this city. Keep in mind that they use a lot of French cuisine so be prepared for heavy cream and very rich filling meals. Best of all, they have an excellent wine menu to pair with it. Just own it and get a bottle.
Charming atmosphere. Great natural light. Attentive service. A great selection of signature drinks. Highly recommend!
1. Make a dinner reservation in advance. 2. Order the chicken for two immediately (it takes about an hour to cook). 3. Enjoy some small plates and drinks, but leave room for the chicken. 4. If you've got room, order dessert. Romantic atmosphere, seems to attract semi-formal clientele.
Excellent handmade pastas! The lasagna is a must try- totally different and totally tasty. And don't sleep on the desserts, the cheesecake is homemade and light and airy, perfection!
We ordered the chicken for two before going to a show, but 45 min into our wait (supposed to take 60 min) they came to say they had forgotten it, and it would take another 60 min.. Had to cancel and get something else. Overall service was so-so. Salads and pastas were good, but the steak I got instead of the chicken was mediocre. Would be 3 stars if any other restaurant based on experience, but supposed to be super good (it’s ‘Zuni’!) so giving 2 stars because did not come close to expectations.
