La Pacha Hostel, San Gil Reviews
I've been to a lot of hostels, and this one was truly the best. We ended up staying 2 weeks because we couldn't get enough! Easily accessible from San Gil or barichara, the place is a nice little hillside getaway with cute animals and an awesome vibe. Justin and Andrea are awesome host, they are so helpful in organizing anything you need and making you feel at home. O, and the goat cheese & chutney (both homemade) are absolutely delicious! 10/10 would recommend!
This eco-friendly community has goats, yurts that you can stay in, a communal movie bus (where you can watch movies and even play video games), a hammock-filled lounging roofed area, and they make their own goat cheese and apple chutney. Oh and there is WiFi all over the grounds. There is one shared regular toilet and electric shower, the rest are eco dry toilets and solar showers. There is a fully equipped kitchen that is for guests to use, and there are camping spaces with a roof which is where we stayed. Somebody painted beautiful murals on everything, oh and there is a sky hammock with an amazing view (if you don't know what that is, you'll have to just come and see). Prices to stay are very reasonable and they can cook and serve meals there (for a cost) as long as you tell them ahead of time. Justin runs the place and speaks English and can give great advice on what to see locally. The only downside was that the road in is a bit rough, and there were biting flies that just ate me up, but that's nature for you. Overall, this place was amazing, and the farm is only 20 minutes from the lovely village of Barichara. We plan on coming back we had such a great time there.
We had an amazing time staying at La Pacha, easily our favourite hostel in Colombia. Great location, beautiful views and easy to get to. Owners Justin & Andrea were friendly, helpful and full of local knowledge. Highly recommend staying here!
Really cool place, don't miss it! Heaps of things to do around, never got bored in two weeks :) The food is really good too and veggie, loved the breakfast and the goat cheese!
This place has it all. The atmosphere is truly amazing, I had a great time there. As it's outside of town many travelers come for more than one night and there is a sense of travelers' community. The views are incredible and the rainy afternoons are best to be passed in the bus where you can find many movies and books. There is also a possibility of enjoying a bonfire, we made it twice. I especially enjoyed being in the kitchen, with everybody preparing meals, chatting, having a cup of tea. The goat cheese that Justin makes is also worth trying and the goats are surely another attraction. Also, breakfast is yummy! Access to San Gil and Barichara are super easy and there are tons of excursions to do in the regions plus of course the adventure sports, you can ask at the reception for booking which is convenient.
