  • Just a 20 minute walk north of downtown San José, the Simon Bolivar Zoo is a bargain at 2900crc for adults & children over 12. From crocodiles to a jaguar & ocelot, a wide assortment of birds, monkeys, snakes and frogs among others, there are creatures to delight just about anyone. It was a very pleasant and educational way to spend about two hours. The staff were quite attentive and well-informed. Highly recommended!

  • From Japan:) Lovely zoo in San Jose. Walkable distance from central part of the city. Greatly worthy for tropical bird lovers. Explanations for each animals and plants are in Spanish but English names are also written.

  • Beautiful, quaint, not a tourist trap (signs are wonderfully informative with no English translation) a few blocks from the hotel. Perfect place to chill and kill a couple hours. Only $4 all day.

  • It is a beautiful place, but needs so much work, a good gift shop and most definitely a restaurant or small coffee shop.

  • No Guides. Not what I was expecting. The animales looked sad. There is not much to see. Close to the main áreas and you can Walk to get there.
