The Oldest Park in California, this lovely place established in 1872, is an amazing tourist attraction and the perfect place to relax and unwind amidst the gorgeous surroundings.
The Place used to be full of mineral springs but most of these have become extinct. What do remain are the lovely stonework grottos that used to mark these springs that are a lovely sight to see. The flora and fauna of the area is very unique and interesting. If you are a budding ornithologist, you will love to see the amazing variety of forest birds in the area.
The trails are quite easy and hence ideal for kids. There is a pretty little play area for children as well. Whether you want to do some exercise, take someone out on a date, enjoy a nice picnic with the family or just simply hang out with friends, this place is the ideal venue for it all.
- Don’t drink the water or try to eat the fish in the park. The whole area is full of mercury residue.
- Hostetter Station
- Vung Tao
- Mikonos Grill
- Drying Shed

This park was THE place to be in San Jose for many years. There are hidden leftovers from the time when Alum Rock was the boardwalk of the area. The mineral springs are fascinating and stinky. There is plenty of picnic grounds, and it is so large, it is not hard to find a quite spot. I feel like the subtle incline from the front of the park, up the valley, provides a great hike beside the river.
Good place for a quick workout, complemented with great views. We began our hike at the creek trail, which was super fun as well. Wear good hiking / running shoes. Amazing place to catch the sunset !
Lovely park. My grandson loves it - plenty of Of safe space for.a little kid to run. The park Equipment is.sturdy and well built - and cute. Nice shade on hot days, enough benches for grandmothers!
Love love Alum rock.. So many different hikes and trails to do with many different levels. So beautiful there with the vivid greens and sounds of the rushing creek. Lovely views of San Jose. Remember unfortunately no dogs, but it's OK many deer and wild life.. Enjoy
Great park- lots of parking. Some lots are free but some of the lots further in are $6. Great education center. Has a variety of trails both dirt and hilly and paved and flat. Some great interpretation panels about the park history as a tourist spot for the mineral springs there. Lots of restrooms
