San Luis Obispo has an attraction which is unique, weird yet one just can’t ignore it. And the attraction is the oh so popular Bubblegum Alley! Once a landmark of rivalry between the students of San Luis Obispo High School and California Polytechnic State University, the alley is 15 foot high and 70 foot long and is located in the 700 block of Higuera Street in SLO. The alley has featured in several films and television shows. In addition, many poets and authors have described this alley in their respective creations. While some find it disgusting, others are totally okay with it! Overall, a place which is miles apart from museums and religious places, but still is worth visiting.

  • It's a very odd & unique place, literally it's an alley of chewed bubble gum on the walls, completely covered from top to bottom. Definitely NOT a place for anyone with germ phobias. The cutest candy store is close by selling an extremely large variety of gum for people to experience the alley.

  • Having visited SLO countless times in my life, I'll say that Bubblegum Alley has never really caught my attention. If you have a passable imagination, you can get 80% of this place's value just from the name. That said, if you're visiting San Luis, go ahead and stop on your way down the street, take a picture. You won't regret it!

  • This place was pretty neat and we went when they was celebrating Saint Patrick's day. Town was very involved was a awesome experience.

  • My love showed me this place when I came to visit him at Cal Poly...Definitely a one of a kind tourist attraction! Gross and interesting at the same time. Look but don't touch! haha

  • It is exactly what it was promised. Both sides are filled gum. How old is the gum. Don't ask me. Am I disgusted? Yes. But that is what is promised. Some adventurous souls chose to throw the gum as high they can so expect the all the up and all over the floor. And as the name suggests it is an alley, if you go in a group please keep in mind to walk in single file.
