One of the most iconic and historic landmarks in Florence is the Saint Gallo Gate or the Porta San Gallo. It is located bang opposite the Arc de Triomphe and is in the Piazza della Liberta, being a part of the walls of the city of Florence. For a very long time, it has played a crucial role in controlling the traffic, as it happens to be the northernmost gate of Florence, connecting to Bologna. The massive gates have inscriptions on them and the keys are still stored in the Museum of Florence. It is a wonderful opportunity for people to view a specimen of Renaissance architecture in Florence and get a taste of the rich cultural history of Italy.

  • Very old, stone gate. With some lion statues on it. At the outskirts of the main touristy area of Florence. This would get 5 stars if there wasn’t so much trash around the park. And shady people sitting on the benches. Still, cool spot. Not a bad place to kill 10-15 minutes.

  • It’s in repairing
