Overview of Hearst Castle

Hearst Castle is a mansion located on the Central Coast of California. This building was designed by architect Julia Morgan and is today considered a National Historic Landmark and California Historical Landmark. This mansion was the residence of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst till his death in 1951. The mansion has a huge garden that is spread over 127 acres along with 56 bedrooms, 61 bathrooms and 19 sitting rooms. Other amenities include swimming pools, tennis courts, a movie theatre, an airfield, and the world's largest private zoo. Now converted into a museum, Hearst Castle is open to visitors from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm, daily.

    • The guided tour of Hearst Castle lasts for 60 minutes. I don't think the prices will be reduced if you are visiting just for 30 minutes. What you can see depends upon which tour you choose.
