Sanchi Museum - Review
Although built during Ancient India, Sanchi Stupa was rediscovered in the British regime by General Taylor during some excavations. In the year 1919, a small museum was established on the hilltopby Sir John Marshall, former Director General of ASI to preserve the relics found during excavation. A visit to this museum will introduce you to noteworthy antiques such as lion capital of Ashokan pillar. Managed by “Archaeological Survey of India”, this museum is a great way to understand this architecture and Madhya Pradesh tourism as a whole. Exhibits that get displayed inside this museum donot belong only to Sanchi but also from nearby places like Vidisha, Gyraspur, Murelkhurd etc. There are four galleries and a main hall that take you on a journey through the ancient India and its architecture.

Sanchi Museum, Sanchi Reviews
Sanchi Museum As an important tourist attraction The Sanchi Museum stands witness to Indian's rich religious and architectural heritage.Display of several rare and antique items make this museum worth visiting. The Sanchi Museum has a very verdant setting. An archeological museum was developed by Sir John Marshall in the year 1919 which was later converted in to the Sanchi Museum . The Archaeological Survey of India is presently owns this Museum . It is kept open for public viewing from 9'o clock in the morning to 5'o clock in the evening. The entry fee is also very nominal.
Small but well maintained museum. Worth visiting. Several artifacts are kept with accurate description. Many of them are from the broken factions from the main Stupa at site nearby. Also the description of the history in the last hall of pictures, as well as the architectural map created for preservation is interesting. The Before and After pictures show the good work done on the restoration of the Stupa.
