Discover. Learn. Enjoy. That’s Sanibel Public Library’s motto, and the sentiment is probably shared by bookworms from all around the world. In this large, aesthetically pleasing, library, you’ll be privy to a variety of books, magazines, movies and music. You’ll also access to a computer lab, a cosy children’s room and different cultural and literary events on the Island.

• The library is home to an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction books, from mystery, classical literature and historical fiction, to biographies, travel and self-improvement. There’ also a variety of audio books of numerous genres, and books specifically meant for children and young adults. You can sit on a rocking chair on the porch, relax and seep in the words while overlooking the Sanibel River.
• There are over 10,000 items in their audio-visual collection with books on both CD and cassette tape, VHS tapes, DVDs, PlayAways, and music CDs.
• There’s a beautiful shell collection with tons of shells on display.
• The Local History section will delight new-comers, as the shelves here are filled with primary source material and private papers, books, newspapers, pamphlets, maps, city directories and oral histories. You can find these in the Library Archives/Conference room. Most items may be photocopied.
• Jazz music and other concerts, book readings, monthly art exhibits and movie screenings take place throughout the week.

• There are more workers and volunteers than one would expect from a library this size, so it is safe to assume that you'll always be able to find someone to help you.
• From the Sanibel Causeway: Turn right on Periwinkle Way and go West for 2.2 miles. Turn right on Dunlop Road and go North for 0.2 miles to 770 Dunlop Road.

• A year-long library subscription is $10.
• You get a free one hour pass to use the computer
