Palomino Guajira, Santa Marta Reviews - Write a Review
Very lovely beach, no a/c in almost all hostals. Very small town, food is not satisfying but okay.
City is OK. Became super touristy. Lot of rip off. Nice hostels and beaches.
A little town in the middle of a tropical forest with rivers and see. Calm, 100% recommend.
A must go on the backpacking colombian trail. Tourism in Palomino is only 5 years old as before it was a dangerous area. It is now safe and became very popular among travelers. You will find plenty of hostels and each time more places to eat. The beach is 10 blocks down from the concrete road, and on the opposite side you can get into the sierra nevada (the mountain) to visit indigenous villages or to go higher up on the palomino river with an inflated buoy and get in the water all the way down to the beach. They call this activity "tubing". It is usually really hot during day time but at nice there is a refreshing breeze coming from the sierra. Bring anti bug spray (preferably a natural one to preserve the environment) as there are plenty of mosquitos.
Just go there and take the "tubing tour". You won't regret it.
