The Red House or Casa Colorado was built in 1796 by Joseph de la Vega for Mateo de Toro y Zambrano- a political figure in Chile. Today the house adorns the street of Santiago by keeping a lesson of history and art alive and breathing.
The house is called ‘Red’ hinting to its deep-red walls and exudes classic colonial design.
The house used to accommodate the Museum of Santiago but since its permanent closure, is simply a good place to walk by and take a few pictures.
