It is the former Benedictine monastery of the city, situated in Plaza de la Inmaculada. At present, the monastery works as the Major Seminary student residence and headquarters of the School of Social work and also functions as the headquarters of the Theological institute of Compostela. The architectural design is a mixture of Baroque and neoclassical element. The facade has an altarpiece structure that has the sculpture of the Virgin and Child and several Saints Benedictine abbots. The significant feature of the monastery is the two cloisters. The largest one was built by Bartolome Fernandez Lechuga in 1636.

Other attractions to see in this monastery is the collection of paintings, sculptures, gold and silver articles, archeological remains that are there in its different rooms.

• In winter, the monastery remains closed on Mondays.
• Make sure you don’t visit the monastery between 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm.
