  • The home of part of the Warren Somerville collection of minerals and fossils. The only way to describe the quality and variety of the specimens that are on display would be "jaw dropping". I was lucky enough to see his collection when it was still on display at his orchard in Orange. I made sure that I had the time to visit every time I was passing. The time was never a waste as there was always something different on display. These days are no different. Only a third of the available collection is on display at any one time so make the time to drop by whenever you are passing through Bathurst.

  • If you like minerals and/or fossils (whether you're an adult or a kid), this is a must see! The entrance fee is a little steep, but the collection is really well curated and signed, and it has amazing examples of each thing being showcased. The building is an old converted schoolhouse designed by a church architect to the building itself is also interesting to view. Well worth a couple of hours.

  • Very cool museum in a beautiful small town with lots of beautiful fossils and minerals. Worth visiting when you are in Bathurst.

  • A delightful experience! A small but well maintained collection of minerals and fossils. You get to understand a bit about the history of the area.

  • History of the rocks and the fossils ties in nicely with the Museum of Fishes st Canowindra NSW. That museum focuses on a much earlier period. This museum in Bathhurst is a real find. Really well thought out by the curators. The various rocks grouped by type, era and even various depths they are found at. Housed in a restored historical public school. Really interesting place. Highly recommended.
