Sapporo has a continental humid weather. Unlike other regions in Japan, the Hokkaido region does not receive rain in Summer season. The summers in Sapporo are generally warm and pleasant and the winter temperature is well below zero.

• Summer (June - August):  Is Summer season and the capital city of Hokkaido is an exception to the rainy summers in the rest of Japan. The warm weather sets in from April and gets hotter with peak season from June to August. The average temperature is 23 degrees Celsius during the late summer months but the temperatures can escalate to 36 degrees as well.
• Fall (September - November): Is the Fall or Autumn season and sees a temperature drop to around 12 degrees Celsius.
• Winter (December - February): Is peak winter season with heavy snowfall, dry climate and and average temperature of -3 degrees Celsius. Owing to the iconic festivals in the month of February, this time is ideal to travel to Sapporo.
• Spring (March - April): Is spring season with temperatures barley touching 8 degrees Celsius.

Unlike any other places, the best time to visit Sapporo is in February when the Sapporo Snow festival is in full swing.
