  • I visited Otaru Canal in Autumn. The colorful leafs were amazing. So cold and windy. Nice view indeed! The canal was very clean. The location is close from Sapporo. I went to here by JR train.

  • It was snowing where I was there last year in January 2016. No words to describe... Must visit place if you coming to Hokkaido. Don't think too much... just enjoy the weather, the street food and the culture.

  • Even though there is nothing much to do in this place except leisurely walking around or patronising the restaurants and shops, what I loved the most was standing on the bridge and allowing my mind to wonder far and beyond against the backdrop of the water. Absolutely soothing to evoke my senses as a picture perfect start of the day, before departing, we stopped at the ice cream shop for the smooth and luscious Japanese soft curl ice-cream. That's it, just an hour in Otaru, we left.

  • I like this place I really do. The canal area does not feel like Japan and more like a western country. In any season it's beautiful and perfect for a romantic walk. Recently a lot of tourists flock the area though so if you're looking for an empty street come very early in the morning.

  • It's hot in summer; quite alright. Touristy, perhaps overrated. But from winter pictures, it does look beautiful in winter. So will have to make another trip in winter to make this a 5-star.
