Barely a fort anymore, this place is a remnant of one. Still it affords very nice views of the city; an excellent vantage point. It was built under the Ottomans but apparently didn’t gather much importance under it’s belt – because it’s not heavily advertised. It’s only time of significance during the year is the Ramadan, when the cannon at the fort is fired over the city at, letting people know that they can break their day’s fast. When you’re going up to the place, you’ll also come across a neatly preserved war cemetery – reminder of the Bosnian Civil War. An once you’re at the top, whip out that t camera and click away. This is also a cool place for a picnic if you feel like carrying your food all the way up here.

  • To get there from the war cemetery at the eastern end of town or following the river upstream. Where the road forks, take the right fork. Follow it past Hotel Sara and up to the fortress.

  • The walls of the fortress (ruins) are located near the old town. Admission is free. From the top there is a beautiful view of the old town. There is also a small open-air café. A nice addition is the presence of the cats living there. I highly recommend it.

  • Part of the wall surrounding ancient Sarajevo. Basically one of the guard towers whee the canon was placed during Ottoman empire. Now serves as a touristic viewpoint with one of two best overviews of Sarajevo landscapes. During a month of Ramadan, the canon is fired to announce fasting break. Many people gathering for that event.

  • Amazing spot after a long walk going up and up... But the view up there worth it.... Highly recommended

  • Great views across the city after a walk up a steep hill from the old town. No café here in Oct as I guess it is out of season. Views of the cemetary are thought provoking as most graves are during the siege.

  • Great view from it. Easy to reach. You need to climb to the hill, but the view is great to Sarajevo. A good wooden bar is there, you can refresh yourself. Sit down on chairs. Because of the trees there is shadow around you, so if it is warm definitely take a rest here.
