Savudrija Lighthouse formerly known as Punta Salvore Lighthouse is Croatia’s oldest lighthouse situated near the village of Savudrija. Having been constructed in 1818, it is also the oldest operational lighthouse and was initially lit with coal gas. Designed by Pietro Nobile, local stones were used for the construction of the 19-metre tower while the height was later increased by 10m in the 19th century. There’s a romantic tale associated with the lighthouse which is very interesting. Since 2000, there are rooms within the lighthouse that have been made available for rent as a romantic holiday accommodation.
