Nestled in 33 virgin acres of lower Westchester County, the Greenburgh Nature Center offers fantastic nature education through its trails and exhibits. The five marked unpaved nature trails ranging from 1/10th of a mile to over half a mile are laden with high canopy of the oak and pines, dogwoods, wildflowers, and mushrooms. The vernal pond on the Blue Trail is a resting spot for the native animals and migratory birds. Surrounding the Manor House, you will see meadows, organic gardens, replica of Native American Village with dugout canoe, hide drying rack and wigwam, barnyard with cattle, chicken and rabbits, the Nature Center with eagles, hawks, owls, white-necked raven and Zhao-Zhao, beehives, butterfly arbour along with kids’ playground. You can also interact with animals at their indoor exhibit.

Greenburgh Nature Center Reviews & Ratings

  • This place is great for kids and families. There are live animals and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The playground is awesome! And never crowded. It's also free to walk the grounds. Viewing the animals costs like $6, but no big deal! Totally worth the experience.

  • This is a wonderful family friendly spot. Nice quick hikes and beautiful grounds which are free to walk. There are live animals and an entertaining wooden playground.

  • This is a great place for kids if you are a local resident, we come here all the time to hike and for the playground. We will continue coming for sure. The only complaint I am writing about today is that they had a kids program activity going on that charges $8/person. That's fine and all, but it was soooo not worth it! For 2 adults and 1 child comes out to $24. The person leading the activity is great - he was funny and knowledgeable. But if I had known it was really just going to be to look at 2 bugs and walk to the bee area right outside that is free already to the public and then come back to paint a rock that is just for kids anyway. Ugh it was NOT worth the $24. They really should just charge the kids only and not the adults. And on top of that the admission to the part upstairs is separate!! Shouldn't it be at least included with the overpriced activity? So my kids wanted to check out upstairs and we paid for that, the upstairs is amazing, no complains there and well worth the price. The volunteers are super friendly and you can see they are passionate about what they do. BUT for the $50 we spent here we could have gone to the Bronx Zoo and take a ride on the dinosaur safari! I guess if you are a GNC member it is a few dollars cheaper but for that price I rather be a Bronx Zoo member. The public libraries in the area have FREE activities that are much more substantial and exciting than what GNC offered today... I guess I was just very disappointed especially for the price and would not be going to the activities again...

  • Great place for nature and family, lots of mosquitoes so plan accordingly

  • Fun experience for all ages. Watch for bees and nesting squirrels. :)
