Overlooking the village Hohenschwangau, the historic and stunning Neuschwanstein Castle or New Swanstone Castle on the cliff edge, surrounded by Alpine mountainside looks like a fairy tale castle with its limestone facade and rich Romanesque Revival architecture. It was given as homage to Richard Wagner and shortly after his death, the castle opened its gate for the visitors. The symmetrical Gatehouse flanked by two staircased towers will lead you inside the complex. Contrasting colours, yellow limestone fronts, roof cornice with pinnacles, crow-shaped gables, two-levelled courtyard, the chapel keep with the 45 meters Rectangular Tower, the Palas with the two-storey balcony and ornamental turrets, and frescos will mesmerize you.
