Scio Woods Preserve in Washtenaw County is a pristine gem of nature for those who seek an escape from the bustling city. Hikers will have an excellent opportunity to explore the nook and corner of the reserve by covering over two miles of nature trails that are full of native flora and fauna. While the drier areas are laden with Oak and Hickory, the wetter areas are full of Sugar Maple and Beech trees. The nature reserve also has a swamp where you will find an array of wetland species like pawpaw, spicebush and bladdernut. Visit in Spring to experience a wildflower treat or in Autumn to enjoy the fall colours. Barred Owlets and Pileated Woodpeckers are found in this area.

Scio Woods Preserve Reviews & Ratings
This would be a beautiful, deep woods place to hike, except there are many fetid ponds and swamps, breeding swarms of mosquitos. Bring bug spray. I'll add that there is a small bike rack. Bikes aren't allowed in the park.
Get back over the first Hill to station 1 and it starts to feel like woods and less like roadside. We we went on a warm January day, trail was quiet. At least three ponds that are probably teeming with life in the spring.
Very peaceful, very small. I enjoyed.
Scio Woods Preserve has gentle hills, lovely stand of Beech trees and woodland stream. Great for hiking and getting some fresh air!
Great place for walking and have fun
