Seattle has a variety of ways to enjoy it's modern cityscape and one of them is the recently opened Seattle Great Wheel. It is a giant Ferris wheel ride situated right on the Hudson Bay! It was designed to help with local economy but it's a treat for locals and visitors alike. With a seat in the little gondolas, you can have a spectacular view of Hudson Bay and Seattle during the day and the sea of city lights at night! 20 minutes of flying through the skies at a comfortable speed is sure to offer numerous picture-perfect moments along the ride. Definitely a one time visit at the least with the family because this place is also kid-friendly. VIP tickets with leather seating and glass flooring of the gondolas, take the experience up a notch. Don't forget the camera to take pictures you will treasure!

Of course as a tourist, one must stop at the great wheel on the Puget Sound in Seattle. The boardwalk is really cute, with shops and eateries along it. There is another attraction on the pier called "Wings over Washington" which is a lot like a California Adventure ride BUT to do both things, it costs an arm and a leg. If you have money to blow, it's worth it but otherwise I'd choose the Great Wheel. As you crest the top, you can see far out over the sound, while the wind gently rocks your carriage. Fully enclosed, comfortable and air conditioned. We only waited 10 minutes in lounge but we were there on a Monday, mid afternoon. I've heard that waiting for sunset is the time to go because of the colors in the water. Definitely worth checking out.
We were visiting from Vancouver Island, BC and rode the Great Wheel Sunday evening. I left my cell phone on the ride. I noticed a block away and my husband phoned my phone and one of the young men working answered explaining that I left it and had it waiting for me. I was so relieved. The young men working were ALL super friendly and most helpful with returning my phone to me. Great experience- we will return time and time again!
This place is good but I won't recommend taking Great Wheel ride. It's too expensive for just 3 rounds. Better views are available from Space Needle for almost similar price, if you can go before 10am. If someone doesn't want to spend any money on these places, Kerry Park also gives similar views for zero price. But don't just stay at Kerry Park. Go at least half a mile ahead to find better views.
Great views of downtown Seattle. Cars are comfortable and neat. Seats, clean windows. Staff is super friendly. We went after 9p. We got an exclusive car for us. Lines were relatively short. Worth the price.
5/15/17 So as a tourist attraction, I think this is pretty great stop. You can at least say you rode the Great Wheel, and it's only $14 per adult. ($3 less than Wings Over Washington). However, I think a lot of other reviews are spot-on when they say it wouldn't take much to make the experience a little bit better: like some music, history (or any other narrative), or even just a free photo, rather than that overpriced one they take before you get on the ride. It was still pretty cool to check out, especially because you can see the Wheel from so many different places throughout the beautiful city.
