  • Ujjain Mahakali Maata is one of the “ ASTADASA PEETHAS “ . She gave her Divine Darshan to both Raja Vikramaditya as well as Mahakavi Kalidas and Blessed them . Kalidas had recited the ‘ Shayamala Dandakam ‘ here . The speciality of this Temple is : Two Deepa Sthambha ( Lighting Pillars ) carved out by the Sculptures, thousands of years ago . There are 1001 Deepa Pramida ( light posts ) , on each of the lamp post . Even today , every evening , at the time of HAARATI , all the 2022 lamps , on these two light pillars are lit , by the Poojaris , in Super sonic Speed . Climbing step by step , on to the steep , narrow pillar ; removing earlier days lamp residues ; filling new Cotton wicks ( ofcourse big in size , to last longer ) , climbing to the top with a lighted torch in one hand and lighting each of the wicks and climbing down with equal speed ( it will be too hot and difficult to bear ) , is an art in itself , SEEN TO BE BELIEVED . Ofcourse , it is MAATA, who makes all this possible . 👇
