Situated within the Ephesus, this magnificent theatre is located on the slopes of Panayir Hills. You can easily locate the theatre if you enter Ephesus from its southern entrance. Its first construction took place in the third century, during the reign of Lysimachos of Hellenistic period. However, the structure was expanded during the Roman period and that is the present structure that you see now. Enter the theatre and you can see its vast seating capacity. Information says, the theatre had the capacity for 25000 seats and all these seats are divided into three sections. Seats with marble backs were reserved for the important people. The Emperor’s Box was located on the lower section and the other audience used to enter the theatre from the upper cavea.
