Santa Maria Magdalena - Review
This late 17th century Baroque Church built by the architect Leonardo de Figueroa, was constructed above the ruins of an older medieval Church from the thirteenth century. It does not have much historical value but it is very beautiful. Every inch of the church is opulently decorated. The architecture is a Latin cross with the large Central down, a high choir, lots of gilded wood, and wall paintings by some of the best local artists. It also has an excellent collection of sculptures, lavishly decorated portals, including three portals on the facade. Also note the ceramic altarpieces on the facade. See the ceramic altarpiece of Our Lady of Amparo, the Virgin of the Fevers statue by J. Bautista Vazquez the Elder, and the 18th century El Retablo Mayor.

Beautiful church. It's a bit hidden from tourists but it's really a hidden pearl of the city.
