About Seville Cathedral, Seville

This enormous Gothic cathedral was built for one reason only to demonstrate Seville’s wealth. This 15th ventury wonder was built on the site of a 12th century mosque. The builders claimed to want to build something so opulanet that “those who saw it would call us crazy.” 80 Lavishly ornamentes chapels, high vaulted ceings, a beautiful choir, a gilded altarpiece and the tomb of Chistopher Columbus; the cathredal interior is just as impressive. The treasury is filled wth ornate pices of gold and silver. The orange tree courtyard is peaceful. Be sure to climb the 35 ramps to the clock tower for mind boggling view. We could go on and on, but simple words aren’t going to describe the experience here.

  • Awesome looking cathedral. World's largest Gothic cathedral and 3rd largest overall I believe. Amazing architecture. Christopher Columbus' tomb with his remains is located here. Not really a tomb just 4 statues holding up his stone casket on the main area of the cathedral. The tower has nice 360 views of the city but it's quite a climb. It says 34 floors but by standards you are really only climbing 17 floors if you were in an apartment building in North America.

  • If you are game enough, I highly recommend paying 6€ extra and go on the roof top tour. It's on of the best tours I've done on my travels. The tours are offered in different languages, mainly French and Spanish. Thankfully my friend was able to translate for me. We choose to go on the 12.30pm tour, which was the second tour of the day. In the end it was four people in total. So it was very personal and could take our time. I'm not sure if I would recommend it to children. You get up pretty high and need to climb some steep stairs. The tour takes you both inside high up the cathedral and around the roof.

  • Very nice Gothic Cathedral. Enjoyed it as much as the Cathedral in Barcelona and Paris. We went about 1:10 before closing and we waited about 15 minutes. They let us stay in and even allowed people to go the tower after they closed the entrance. Great views from the tower.

  • Amazing place. Is really well maintained and rhe tickets combine both the Cathedral and the tower. Deserves the time to go there.

  • It really is a delight. I didn't purchase the audio tour and I wish I had. It's only €3. So many wonders and treasures inside would have loved to learn more fun facts. Don't necessarily get in the queue before it opens. Go 15/20mins after and the line is shorter. Climb the tower, it's ramped and it's worth it. Avoid on the hour and half past as the bells are loud!
