Shanghaï Maglev Train, Shanghai Reviews
Incredible, once-in-a-lifetime train ride to the airport and back! The two reciprocating trains have a closing speed in excess of 800km/h, and as they cross you can feel a palpable shockwave. The speed is like nothing you've ever experienced before so close to the ground.
Awesome connection pu dong to shanghai. Note that it is isn't downtown shanghai, the bund etc. is still some distance. Hope you like the cabin shots, I travelled VIP class and got a great shot looking through the drivers cabin :-) Stayed at dorsett shanghai 1 metro stop from maglev next to centuary park 1 or a 1.5km 20 minute walk. The best way to travel for 6 minutes on a magnetic train, enjoy :-)
A fairly uninspiring affair compared to HSR in other countries, notably Japan. Although this is the fastest commercial train in the world, it only hits those speed for a short window of service in the afternoon and typically operates around 300kmh. Definitely the best and fastest way to get from the airport into the city of Shanghai, it is easy to use but unlike other HSR, not particularly beautiful and a relatively bumpy ride which is unexpected. With the journey only being around 7mins there is little romance in this short transfer. Much more functional then a worthwhile activity in of itself like rail systems in other countries whether HSR or other. Definitely get it for fast access to the city. The added bonus of experiencing Mag-Lev and the 'on-paper' fastest commercial train system in the world.
Coveniently located on the eastern side of Shanghai, it really cuts 30-45 minutes off your journey to the airport if you plan to take the 2 line from downtown, and viceversa. There are train departures every 15/20 mins and it is a 8 min journey, dropping you inside the terminal of the international Airport. Price for one way is 50 Yuan.
This is not the right station. Do not use this landmark. Look to the south and then to the LongYang Road Metro Station
